Hornets: Hyde set to sign

3:19pm Saturday 20th October 2001

MICAH HYDE was expected to complete the signing of a three-year extension to his existing contract, taking him through to 2004 this week.

The Jamaican international midfielder, whose existing contract expires next summer, would have been on a Bosman free, but the 26-year-old midfielder has been in negotiations with Tim Shaw over recent weeks.

Speaking on Thursday, October 18, the chief executive said : "We talked again on Wednesday and I left in the belief that he will sign the new contract today.

"Obviously we are very pleased because he has been playing well."

Hyde, who was probably unlucky to miss out on the Player of the Season Award in the Premiership, has forced his way to the forefront of Vialli's team selection, despite the manager's recruitment of Stephen Hughes, Stephen Glass and David Noble.
