Oxford has been named as one of the top locations to stargaze in England this spring, according to new research.
Ranking in at seventh place, Oxford offers an optimal environment for admiring the Flower Moon on Thursday, May 23, a phenomenon signalling the arrival of spring in its full splendour.
The study by Millets, considering factors such as light pollution and air quality, demonstrated that the city with its 1.98 mcd/m2 brightness and a 35-point air quality index presents promising conditions for astronomical activities.
The top location for stargazing was found to be Barnsley, due to its low light pollution and air pollution levels.
Northampton, York, Brighton, Bournemouth, Rochdale, Swindon, Peterborough, and Havering made up the rest of the top 10.
