Trains continue to be disrupted due to a safety inspection of the track following an emergency service response earlier today.

Emergency services were called to the train line between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill today (Sunday, April 28) at around 9.30am causing trains to be cancelled.

Following the emergency services response all lines were reopened in the afternoon.

However, disruption is set to continue throughout this evening between Worcester Foregate Street and Oxford as fewer trains are able to run on some lines due to a safety inspection.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day, Great Western Railway has said.

A Great Western Railway statement said: “Due to a safety inspection of the track, services near Worcester Shrub Hill may be delayed, or cancelled.

“Great Western Railway apologises for any delay to your journey that this may cause you.

“If you arrive at your destination 15 or more minutes late because your Great Western Railway train was delayed or cancelled, you can claim delay repay compensation.

“Transport For Wales are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.”

The Oxford Mail has approached British Transport Police for more information on the incident.
