Pupils had a chance to play their favourite characters at Sandhills Primary School at Headington, Oxford, during Book Week.

Among them were, left to right, David Mills, Flora Duffy and Richard Greenway, three masked desperadoes with a baby in a crib, in reality a cardboard box.

Teachers, including head David Rule, dressed as pirates while children donned a variety of costumes from Noddy to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

It was their way of rounding off a week focused on children’s books.

Sandhills Community Primary School is run by the River Learning Trust.

Kerry Minion is the headteacher of the school in Terrett Avenue.
